Question: What evidence would I look for to determine whether god
   exists?

Good question. I would have to answer like this. As a scientist/
human being, who is a long way from discovering in fact, with my
limited resources of today, where exactly did the universe come from I
would be forced to look for a "god" (of the Bible?) on his own terms.
  ( some supernatural way)
      Two possibilities-

        1) The answering of a prayer. The only real direct link I can ever
hope to get here on Earth.

        2) The sighting of a "miracle". And I don't mean the magician tricks
like walking on water etc. I mean like one day the moon disappears and
Andromeda galaxy suddenly moves out of its normal location (or something
  equally stupendous)

Results to date. I have yet to observe any bonified miracles.
All prayers have gone unanswered. I must conclude therefore (especially)
since the reason I was looking for god in the first place was because
some poor ignorant humans thought he might exist, that either he does
not exist or he dosen't want me to know that he does. I chosse to accept
  the former!
