[net.religion] chance and creation

russ@dadlab.UUCP (05/09/84)

To cite that it is beyond the laws of chance for the creation of
the earth to have occured as a chance event misses the point. You
can take any event or series of events AFTER THEY HAVE OCCURED and
show that they could not have happened by chance. Just think about
how large the chances must be that I would write this article and
that you are reading it at exactly this time and that others are
reading it and today is Thursday (or whatever). Or what would be
the chances that ten cars are traveling next to each other on the
freeway at 4 PM on Friday the 4th of May. The chances could be
astronomical and that doesn't mean that it isn't still a chance
occurrence.

I would appreciate it if someone can point out a flaw in this
analysis. Instead it would seem that the laws of chance are not
usefully applied to understand the possibilities of the creation.
