The ``do not open if seal is broken'' label brought up the statement that
if men choose to use the hymen as proof of virginity, then it must have been
put there for that purpose.
Nonsense.
At the risk of attributing rationality to evolution, the hymen evolved for
a very utilitarian purpose. A young girl (pre-sexual maturity) does not
need the vagina to be exposed to environmental contamination and infectious
agents. A girl that avoids infections is more likely to have a healthy
reproductive system at maturity, and can use it to produce more children.
No morality and god directed tell-tale function need by infered. Random
evolution explains all.
