[net.religion] some light on the atheism discussions

<Does this line exist?>

Atheists don't believe in God/Supreme Being/George Burns etc.
Most atheists don't argue that jesus didn't EXIST, only that he was
not the son of god. As for prejudice against atheists - well, in some
states it would be difficult for an atheist to give evidence in court.
If you HAVE to swear to god to give evidence, you either:
Refuse to swear to god (contempt of court)
Swear to god (hypocritical)
Also, if you swear to god, the prosecution could harp on it.

There was one old Quaker who, upon being "sworn in"
in court, stated, "I neither swear nor affirm, I tell the truth".

The Court accepted her statement and allowed her to testify.
