To all interested:
I am planning to take off much of October and visit a bunch of netters (and
others) roughly to the east of here, with a swing up through southeastern
Michigan (Detroit area) into Ontario [meeting Laura Creighton on her own turf!
Such courage! :-)], western and southern New York state, much of New Jersey
(lots of BTL netters to meet there), down into northern Virginia, and then
back via Pennsylvania and Ohio (more netters in Columbus). At one end of the
trip or the other (or both), I will throw in a stop in the Chicago area.
Other than the fact that my visit to Cornell U. will have to be after the 9th,
and my visit to one Murray Hill friend has to commence by the 12th, I have no
other parameters set on the times & dates.
Anyone living in the neighborhood of my route who would be interested in
meeting me, please mail me a response giving at least your name, your net
address, and phone numbers (including area code, of course) where you can
be reached (and hours at which you're likely to be there). It might speed
matters if you could also include directions from a major highway to a
place where we could meet (your house, your workplace, a restaurant, or
whatever). I will try to give everyone at least a day's notice, preferably
two days', before I actually arrive.

I forgot to mention one detail of my journey: I will be more than willing to
purchase dinner and breakfast for anyone who gives me a place to sleep, shower,
shave, and perhaps occasionally do laundry. I don't intend to be a moocher....
BTW, I've seen Ken Perlow's photo of the Waterloo crowd. Interesting bunch; I
think I'll drop in on them, since they're right along my way....

Well, I'm off! (Not only that, I'm leaving....) I'm heading for the wild (?)
North (well, southern Ontario) and the mysterious East, leaving Saturday.
I have sent a letter roughly describing my itinerary to those who sent me
letters expressing interest in meeting me. Sorry if I omitted anyone (e.g.
I think I heard from Charley Wingate, but I can't find his note).
One little consequence of this is that the blessed silence in these groups
the past few days, due to my cleaning up loose ends at work and having little
time to post, will continue well into October....
