Charley Wingate, thank-you for expressing a compassionate view of the
treatment that should be accorded to non-christians.
It is a true joy to come across a christian who doesn't simply leap up
and down with a look of glee on his face, chanting: "You [the non-christian]
have rebelled against the almighty God. You are damned to hell-fire!"

As I have tried to point out so many times in this net group, if a
person has never found convincing evidence for the truth of christianity,
despite their sincere efforts, and if god has not vouchsafed them a revelation
of christianity's truth, then that person cannot justifiably be blamed for
not being convinced of christianity's truth and for not living in accordance
with its dictates. Surely the only morally decent way for god to decide what
to do with this person would be for him to "examine the person's heart,
in accordance with his wisdom."
