Karma Thegsum Choling, the Buddhist meditation center of Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, presents the Tibetan Lama, the Venerable Khenpo Karthar,Rinpoche, who will give a series of public talks and instructions in Durham and Greenville beginning Nov. 15. Khenpo Karthar,Rinpoche, is abbot of the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra monastery at Woodstock, New York. Born in Eastern Tibet in 1925, he received intensive training in meditation practice before leaving Tibet in 1959. Subsequently he was instructed by the XVI Gyalwa Karmapa (head of the Kagyu division of Tibetan Buddhism) to establish several study centers in North America. His character is seen as an exemplification of Dharma teachings and their benefits, and he is known for his ability poignantly to relate difficult philosophical concepts directly to everyday life.
