[net.religion] net.religion.pagan -- please, no!

tim@cmu-cs-k.ARPA (Tim Maroney) (11/03/84)

The proposal was recently put forth that a new subdivision of net.religion
be created, net.religion.pagan. I have to object. Wiccans or "neo-pagans"
are only one part of what may be termed the "occult movement"; there are
many of us with similar interests who do not wish to be called "pagans". It
would be like creating net.religion.presbyterian; the term is simply too
narrow. I am active on CompuServe's Religion SIG, and recently inveigled
the sysop into renaming a little-used section (similar to a USENET subgroup)
to "New Age". This kept all of us Thelemites, Wiccans, and such like,
happy. Because it worked there, I would have no objection to the creation
of a USENET group net.religion.newage.

Tim's back!! He's returned from the dead!

Yea, verily, have we all most horribly transgressed against
the Holy Word of Netiquette, yet it was He and He alone who
was begotten to bear the most terrible punishment of net.death
that we might frolic in eternal net.life. And now, Miracle
of Miracles, He is risen!!

Give 'em hell, Tim!

Tim's point is a good one. I would look forward to a net.religion.newage.

EITHER HAVE BOTH OR NEITHER. One is just as valid as the other.
We DO have free speech in THIS (USA) country!
