[net.religion] Happen again?

walker@noscvax.UUCP (Janet M. Walker) (12/07/84)

From: jnelson@trwrba.UUCP (John T. Nelson)
>>The priests and pharrasies thought they had everything sewn up in
>>the law and the "One God." Yet the Messiah came in a form totally
>>contrary to their conception of God. Who's to say it couldn't
>>happen again?

Another's reply:
>> That same Messiah

But wasn't it 'that same Messiah' who said
"Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come."
                                                        Matthew 24:12
"Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is."
                                                        Mark 13:33
"Watch ye therefore...Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping."
                                                        Mark 13:33
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night..."
                                                        Peter 2:10
"And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour
the thief would come, he would have watched...Be ye therefore ready
also: for the Son of man cometh are an hour when ye think not."
                                                        Luke 12:39-40
"And thou shalt be called by a new name."
                                                        Isiah 62:2
"The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for
him, and in an hour that he is not aware of."
                                                        Matthew 24:50
"I go away and come again unto you."
                                                        John 14:28
It sure sounds like it might happen in a WAY and TIME that people do
not expect. Other religions than Christianity have writings which
give credence to John Nelson's speculation.

From the Bhagavad Gita of Krishna:
"Know thou, O Prince, that whenever the world declineth in virtue and
righteousness; and vice and injustice mount the throne, then come I,
the Lord, and revisit My world in visible form, and mingle as a man
with men, and by my influence and teachings do I destroy the evil and
injustice, and re-establish virtue and righteousness. Many times have
I thus appeared; many times hereafter shall I come again."

And from Buddha:
"I am not the first Buddha Who came upon earth, nor shall I be the
last. In due time another Buddha will arise in the world, a Holy One,
a supremely enlightened One...an imcomparable Leader of men... He
will reveal to you the same eternal truths which I have taught you."

As a matter of fact, every major religion has writings to this effect.
Makes you wonder, huh?
