You miss the entire point of the Law Onan broke.
He broke the Law of continuing his brother's family name
through having a male descendent. It was his obligation
to his brother's family to do this. For reasons we do not
know, he performed 'coitus interruptus'.
That is why he got dealt with so harshly. (to our way of thinking)
