Last night, the Chicago Christian TV, channel 38 aired an anti- Mormon propaganda piece. The propaganda movie was described as a "documentary", yet, it was not a documentary. It was one sided and inflammatory. It had implicit suggestions that Mormonism is somehow tied to Satanism. I will list now some of the points that were raised by the program: 1. The Mormons cannot prove their religious claims.* 2. Mormons brainwash their members. 3. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a false religion inconsistent with Christianity. 4. Mormon teenagers tend to be more suicidal. 5. The Mormon Church persecutes those members who step out of line. 6. The CJCLDS breaks up families, if some members of the family reject the church teaching. 7. The Mormon church strives for world domination. The problem is not just what the program said but how it said it. It made a sensation out of any Mormon activity. It tried to scare the viewers of those horrible people. To sum up the the program was a pure religious incitement against another group of people with whom the evangelical Christians do not agree. -------------- *I find the fundamentalists claims remarkable: The Mormons cannot prove the truthfulness of the Mormon religion, and that they brainwash people. Can the fundamentalists prove their religion? Are they not trying to brainwash the viewers of CBN. There is a Hebrew saying: "The camel cannot see its hump", which describes very well the situation. -- Yosi Hoshen, Bell Laboratories Naperville, Illinois, (312)-979-7321, Mail: ihnp4!ihuxn!jho
