[net.religion] Outsiders at services of the ONE TRUE CHURCH

barryg@sdcrdcf.UUCP (Lee Gold) (02/13/85)

One netter's remark about how a Jewish girl appreciated a Catholic church
gave special help for those who didn't understand the service reminds me
of my own difficuly when attending Christian services (friends' weddings,
funerals, et al).

As a Jew, I have to be continually alert to say "Amen" at the penultimate
part of the prayer, just before the officiant says, "We ask it in Jesus'
name." If I'm too late, I can't morally say "Amen" since I'm *NOT*
asking it like that. (Obviously I whisper my amen, rather than shrieking
it out and disturbing the insider worshippers.)
