It is a fine joke. Unfortunately folks who could appreciate it
the most are no longer with us: Galileo, Copernicus, and others.
And poor Giordano Bruno would probably laughed himself to death!
Had he only been able to hear that - the man knew what it's like to
scale, and then be greeted (grilled?) by band of theologians. 
Oh, well.
