One almost long (~ 6 min.) and varied rock piece no-one has mentioned yet is Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" on _A Night at the Opera_ (or maybe it's _A Day at the Races_, I sometimes get confused). Another piece would be Wings' "Band On The Run", from the album of the same name. These pieces aren't as varied (or as long) as some previously mentioned ones, but if you are going to try to play them, these may be better. David Kravitz MIT Lab for Comp. Sci. -------

> I think the question that was asked was if anybody was STILL putting out > long varied pieces. The only one that comes to mind is Frank Zappa. Well, Dire Straits, while not of the older "art-rock" era, has cranked out one or two. Telegraph Road off of -Love over Gold- is about 14 minutes, telling a story and not just stringing words together. Come to think of it, these guys would fit in quite well in the early 70's - long, overblown and pretentious (and I love 'em!). Joe Leonard <jmleonar@CRDC.ARPA>
