It is interesting to note the discussions that have been filling these coloumns lately.I don't want to comment about the usefulness or otherwise of these discussions. However, it is important that we have a goal in life and (as per the Gita) do all we could to help achieve it.As citizens of a great nation with a rich cultural heritage, we should help clear any mis- conceptions that arise about us and our country.Nevertheless, we should not take it on ourselves the task of being messengers and ambassadors of the country as it might not always be possible without making oneself miserable. Though these discussions may be interesting, it is important not to be emotional and get carried by these nonissues. The time and efforts would be better directed by addressing issues that affect the survival of the human beings such as the ravaging famine in Africa, apartheid in South Africa (which is barbaric and abhorring in this civilised age), and the plundering of Third world countries by avracious multinational corporations who equate the cost of human lives according to where the lives belong to [ie. $1000 for life in India {Bhopal Gas victims} vs. millions of $ for life here.] If even a fraction of our time and energy be channelled into these life and death issues and bear results, then the generations to follow shall be grateful for our timely actions. So let us contribute our might for a better tommorrow!
