[net.religion] Winteroak on Black

jay@npois.UUCP (Anton Winteroak) (04/03/85)

I have expressed the view that it is better to ignore Black than
to goad him onto to further ravings. Many seemed to agree, until recently.
Rather than buck the trend, I am stating my position on Black and what he
has to say, despite my usual policy of levity.
I will try to keep it quick.
1.) Of course there were death camps. I have seen far too much
uncontrivable evidence.
2.) I like most people. This includes Jews, Christians, and others
too numerous to name. I don't mind people disagreeing with me, but I do
get annoyed when they don't listen, and keep raving. Black seems to be
in this catagory.
3.) "No one ever went broke underestimating the good taste of
the American public" but if Black is an example of the fountainheads of
Identity Christianity, I am surprised that they have any followers. He
reminds me of a nasty Johovah's Witness (usually not very nasty people).
4.) Of course Christ was a Jew. He was one of their greatest
scholars, I think that Christ was to Judaism at that time and locale as
Luther and Calvin where to Catholic Christianity... serious, charismatic
intolerent reformers, and otherwise good examples of humanity. Maybe he
was more than that too, I have no way to know for sure.
5.) Black has been good about keeping subjects that agree with
my viewpoint out of his articles. I'm sure there are a few. Apple pie
tastes pretty good with vanilla ice cream for example.
6.) I usually lump anti-semitism in with other ideas of weak
minds. Nuclear (or fusion) power will one day be so cheap that they
won't bother to meter it, for example. Weak minds look for someone to
blame for the costs of living. Anti-semitism fills this bill.

To sum it up, I don't support Black. I support his right to
rave, but we owe it to ourselves to use "n" when we see his name in
the article header. I still think we are better off not writing about him.
