Someone has suggested a net.religion.eastern.
I second the motion!!
I consider myself a religious person, or at least a person
interested in religion. But I am NOT interested in Christianity
or Judaism, having looked at them and found them lacking in
what is important to me in a religion. Before you start
flaming, let me assure you I think all religions, including
Judaism and Christianity, are valid--but not for me.
It would be nice to get my religion fix without wading through
tons of articles on the virgin birth or how much of a Nazi
someone is. (Not that these are not valid discussions to
some--please no flames! Oh, why do I even try? I know you
will flame. Kwan Yin, protect me!)
I have an additional suggestion. Why limit this to Eastern
traditions? I know there are several followers of Western
pagan traditions on the net. Why not a net.religion.pagan or
net.religion.heathen, so all of us who follow ways not common
in this society (not yet, watch your children :-)) can contribute?
After all, there is one mountain, and many paths. The Judeo-
Christian tradition is well represented on the net, the rest
of us must stick together. I am sure we all have much to learn
from each other. (Besides, we can have so much fun trying to
decide on a name for the group!)
