I noticed about three posts berating me for not liking the new Rush lp, and for (I quote) "not understanding the band". C'est la vie...but I'd like all of you to consider this... What I stated before was my opinion and mine alone. I mentioned something about Rush heading down a road to mediocrity...this is a possibility, as turns for the worse can happen to any band (although one person's example of Asia as generic drivel is right on the money.) I am still a Rush fan...and the fact remains that I enjoy the older material far more than I enjoy the new stuff. Your berating this may make _you_ feel better, but it's certainly not going to change my tastes. If, as one person suggested, I don't understand the band, oh well. The message behind this is, no matter how obtuse this post may seem, is that opinions are just that...opinions. I don't try to tear down someone else just because I don't agree with their tastes. Not only is that childish, but a truly fine exercise in futility. (Got that, Doug? How about you, Larry?) Insulting someone else's taste in music is a waste of time and space... and it has yet to resolve anything. There is no 'good' music or 'bad' music...what someone likes, they like, and they owe no explanations or apologies to anyone else for their own taste. It seems to me that certain persons on the net (none of which, by the way, are the persons who flamed me about my opinion of Rush) have lost sight of that. Let's get some positive suggestions here...I've picked up a couple of things here from suggestions by other persons, and I've tried to make a couple of suggestions. Is it too much to ask that the incessant rantings of Kate Bush's hat size (pro from Doug, con from Larry) be halted? Let's hope not...(For the record, I detest the song "Runnin' up that Hill", and revel in hearing "Stairway" three times a day on AOR radio. Nonetheless, I'm glad the Doug enjoys his music as much as I enjoy mine.) Show some discretion...
