Let me close with a favorite quote of mine. I believe it's from Sir
James Jeans, but I'm not sure: "The universe is not only stranger than we
imagine, it is stranger than we CAN imagine".

I may also be mistaken, but I believe the quotation is of J.B.Haldane,
a founder of mathematical genetics. His biography is very interesting;
he also wrote some religious essays, one in a series including others by
well-known intellectuals (eg Russell). He was something of a Christian
mystic. Another such religious scientist (Quaker), who also wrote some
very interesting essays, is Arthur Eddington, who first tested the general
theory of relativity by observing the gravitational deflection of starlight
near the massive Sun.
