I would like to share these "rules" of examination with the fine folks who peruse net.religion....... Three Rules of Examination for the Seeker .... (To be applied to ANY system in question) 1. What you are REQUIRED to BELIEVE..... is what the system cannot prove. 2. Anything that you are asked to keep secret is of more value to the teacher than it is to the student. 3. Any practise that is forbidden offers something that the system cannot succesfully replace with an alternative. ################################################## Refuse to have anything to do with anything (whether it be a nation, person, organisation corporation,or religion...ect) That seeks to Grow WEALTHIER INSTEAD OF HEALTHIER or That seeks to get LARGER RATHER THAN TRUER. #################################################### Dr John Lilly ................. "What you believe to be true .....IS true,or becomes true, within the limits of your experiments, and experiences. These beliefs are further limits to be overcome. ...... ...... ..... ..... ...... ..... In the realm of the Mind there are no Limits." ..... .... .... ..... .... ..... ... .. .... . ######################################################## ALL IS ZERO BEFORE THE GREAT ONE........... ...............GONG ######################################################## I would like to see less bickering about who's system is more valid, or more historicly accurate, on this net. Today I began to write an extensive diatribe regarding the posting "Evidences of Religion"... I spent an hour of my time scraping my brain for refutations of what I considered an immensly silly piece of Dogma. After reading what i had written I realised that I had merely mirrored the sillines and Dogmatic approach of the original writer, and that I had accomplished nothing and only worked myself into a trap of YOU or ME thinking.... I am committed to a spiritual course that takes me into the heart of hearts and in that heart space only YOU and ME thinking brings peace and comfort. So I dug into my personal notebooks and extracted the above material for sharing. They are derived from sources other than myself , and I take credit only for having the smarts to keep them in mind in mydaily life. On another note I want to thank the person who has taken his discussion of Mormonism to net.religion.christian and hope sincerely that others who have ignored net discussion of the appropriatness of extensive dialog about matters Xtian here in net.religion will follow that example. I would hope that as intelligent and responsible beings we can all respect common netiquite, as well as each others opinions. I suspect that posting voluminous material detailing the historical precedence, and the posters personal devotion to VMS in net.unix would meet with swift and decisive responce..Lets be fair and put it where it belongs guys...OK>> I promise to go there and read it now and then myself, I'm not afraid of investigating alternate points of view. So I also feel thats it is appropriate to put out the call to folks to start posting some positive spiritual material here in net.religion .Some things that will inspire our spiritual nature to reach new vistas , and to challenge dogmatic restrictive traditions to open up to new ideas. If enough good high quality stuff starts showing up here then we can really make a difference in this world, I don't know about you, but thats why I'm here!
