[net.religion] socially acceptable porn

I recently read a article in this newsgroup which was a reply
to another article. I did not see the original article, but
the reply caught my attention and I couldn't forget it.

Apparently the writer of the original article wanted pornography
to be less socially acceptable. The writer of the reply article
stated that he wished pornography was more socially acceptable
because he and his wife enjoyed it so much.

I am curious as to how pornography could be any more socially
acceptable than it already is. Many of the shows and commercials
on prime time television today would have been considered
pornography 20 years ago. That which is still considered porn
is openly displayed on the magazine racks of grocery stores,
gas stations and candy stores. Movies with nude sex scenes are
no longer rated R, they are PG-13, and PG movies can have nude
scenes too. X-rated movies can be rented at any video store,
they're just a couple shelves over from the Disney selections.
How could pornography be made more socially acceptable? Mandatory
public orgies maybe?

I am not:

      a) a religious fanatic
      b) a prude
      c) frigid
or d) trying to convert anyone to my lifestyle

but I like my own sex life, and I have no craving to view someone else's.
I find public nudity and/or sex offensive in the same way I find cigarette
smoke offensive, they both make me nauseous. I think smokers and porn-
addicts should both practice their dirty habits in the privacy of their own
homes.

To those of you who enjoy pornography:

I'll keep my nose out of your sex life when you keep your sex life out from
under my nose!!!!!
