About a month ago, someone stated that the state religion of Iceland was "paganism". This sounded highly unlikely to me, since Iceland was converted to Christianity in the 1000. Recently, I checked this out with my Icelandic officemate, who confirmed that the state religion of Iceland was the Lutheran Church, as I had suspected. This kind of off-the-wall statement about other religions and countries has again become popular in this group (I having made my share too). The only reason I bothered to check this one out (since it struck me as being so obviously preposterous) was that I'm tired of this silliness. Could we at least put in the effort to verify some of the things we say about other people's religions and such?
