My apologies Sue. I, too, sometimes forget to put smiley faces were they are due. Certainly most of my posting was intended to have a smiley face on the end. You are one of the most open-minded people on the net, and my "I am surprised at you" was meant as gentle sarcasm. "Ramakrishna and his Disciples" is an excellent book indeed. > >Most historians believe the accounts concerning these people, > >but claim that the cult no longer exists... > > This is not true. Kali is a representation of the Mother. It is not a > "death-worshipping religion", but represents all of life (which happens > to include death). May I recommend "Ramakrishna and his Disciples" by > Christopher Isherwood--a very interesting book. Her worship is not dead. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Please note that I did not say her worship was dead; I sought to express merely the opinion of some of the less informed western historians. These are the same people who disbelieve Satanic cults and witchcraft -- we both know better than to do this. I do not wish to get into a semantic argument with you concerning the worship of death versus the worship of life (including death); however you phrase it, there were still skulls and (perhaps) sacrifices going on. Again, I am sorry that there was a misunderstanding between us. Keep on marching...
