My apologies Sue. I, too, sometimes forget to put smiley faces were
they are due. Certainly most of my posting was intended to have a smiley
face on the end. You are one of the most open-minded people on the net,
and my "I am surprised at you" was meant as gentle sarcasm.
"Ramakrishna and his Disciples" is an excellent book indeed.

Please note that I did not say her worship was dead; I sought to
express merely the opinion of some of the less informed western historians.
These are the same people who disbelieve Satanic cults and witchcraft --
we both know better than to do this.
I do not wish to get into a semantic argument with you concerning
the worship of death versus the worship of life (including death); however
you phrase it, there were still skulls and (perhaps) sacrifices going on.
Again, I am sorry that there was a misunderstanding between us.
