I don't believe this. Here, in net.philosophy, I can make all sorts of ridiculous and bizzare assertions. No one cares. One person out of all the thousands out there sends me a polite note pointing out a problem with my first philosophic mutterings. In net.religion, anything I say gets hate mail. A cheerfully typed "good morning" would get me at least three varyingly nasty letters and a public humiliation. Not that I like getting hate mail, but it does give me a sense that there are people out there. I insist that the question of why we worry about life and death and survival of the self is an important one. That's why I bother to ponder about whether there is a way that we can determine if we have souls. I cannot believe that you all think that my confused ramblings make perfect sense, but I cannot believe that no one has an opinion on them. I can only conclude that either nobody cared about what I said, or that you all agree (HA!) or that you all have secretary programs with my name in the "exclude" lists. Chee! Maybe I can put it down to a politer and more receptive group of readers in this newsgroup. Steve Hutchison ... decvax!tektronix!tekmdp!dadla!hutch
