[net.philosophy] Rational Self-Interest

I'm coming in late to this discussion. Has anyone referenced John Rawls' A
THEORY OF JUSTICE? (sometimes known as "That monster green book.")  His theory
is based on an origin in state of rational self-interest. However, like the
earlier model of `The State of Nature,' (Rousseau? ) too much can be made from
assuming it to be more than a metaphor.
