Tim has claimed that More people are happier now than ever before because of technology. I wonder. I have little doubt that having readily available food and shelter has improved our general happiness, but I wonder whether peasants living high in the Hindu Kush mountains, say, are any less happy than we. Another way of looking at this is that if happiness has been increased as a result of high technology's comforts, then we should all (at least the majority of people in the U.S.) be ecstatically happy. Is this true? D. Radin - BTL Columbus
