For some people, morality is simply what they can get away with. For others, it is simply a bid in the popularity contest. I think you will find your answer somewhere in the middle. What is hard to distinguish, though, is how people are able to justify them so strongly to themselves. A rational mind driven by an inflated ego is liable to justify anything. A rational mind might not take into account how the primitive axioms are arrived at. This is the problem: How do you break through the defensive barriers surrounding one's ego, and once you do, how do you prevent this method from falling into the " wrong " hands? ( I used quotes because I think the word is adequately described by the context in which I have presented it ) ( on second thought, perhaps I should casually mention that I am refering to the hands located on the persons who would attempt to get away with as much as they possibly could with out suffering ill consequences )( In terms of their limited foresight, of course ) Sticky one, eh? Simple answer, actually. Just remove all forms of media and communication, that way there are no means of propagating morality. Hmmm . . . don't like that one, eh? Oh well, can't have everything. Honestly, if it were in man's power to eliminate the symbols of good and evil from his train of thought, there would be no problem, only bland pseudo existence.
