[net.philosophy] Glossaries of Philosophy -- Thanks and Comments to Rapaport

Thanks for your comments.
I actually do know one professional philosopher who use(d|s) Runes's
dictionary. If one keeps in mind that it is not definitive (notwithstanding
that its title is now '*The Standard Dictionary of Philosophy*'), it does
have some redeeming virtues; I'm not familiar with any one-volume
dictionary/encyclopedia which does not have some uncomfortable flaws -- but
I will make a point of finding a copy of Lacey's dictionary. The
*Encyclopedia of Philosophy* has been on my list of things to get.
I've never use the *Britannica* to look-up philosophical subjects; I am wary
of it because its articles on economics (last time that I looked) were
shoddy.
Principally, when I use an encyclopedia/encyclopedic-dictionary, it is to
begin tracking-down relevant works to read.
