Thanks for your comments. I actually do know one professional philosopher who use(d|s) Runes's dictionary. If one keeps in mind that it is not definitive (notwithstanding that its title is now '*The Standard Dictionary of Philosophy*'), it does have some redeeming virtues; I'm not familiar with any one-volume dictionary/encyclopedia which does not have some uncomfortable flaws -- but I will make a point of finding a copy of Lacey's dictionary. The *Encyclopedia of Philosophy* has been on my list of things to get. I've never use the *Britannica* to look-up philosophical subjects; I am wary of it because its articles on economics (last time that I looked) were shoddy. Principally, when I use an encyclopedia/encyclopedic-dictionary, it is to begin tracking-down relevant works to read. TNX, DKMcK
