[net.micro.apple] purdue.501: Generic disk drives and 80 column boards

mas (02/24/83)

i recently bought a disk drive for $225
from star logic inc in california. it is a sugart drave and i have had no major problems with it, except for possibly a problem with head alignment which may
just be normal wear and tear. several
people in my department have also bought this drive and the only problem i habe heard is that one person has a copy of
krell logo that will not consistently

boot. this could be a squirely disc or
it might be a function of their fancy
copy protection scheme.

we did have problems with a generic disc controler card which apparently was not compatible with the ii +.
