I have completed porting SOFTRANS to Bell System UNIX 5.0. This package interfaces with the SOFTERM terminal Emulation package to allow an Apple to exchange files with the UNIX host using a data-compressed error- checked block-mode protocol. Also supported is the ability to route Apple disk files into a process (eg redirect stdin on the UNIX host to the Apple disk file) and to redirect the output from a process out to an Apple disk file or to an Apple local printer.
