I've been trying to get vi to work with an Apple II and the ALS Smarterm II 80 column card. I've managed to get everything going except the gotoxy addressing, which would be extremely useful. I can get it to address properly in the y direction, but it tends to screw up along x; it also sticks in superfluous characters (usually a '('). Has anyone had any better luck? Ned Danieley duke!ndd

I have purchased a software package that handles emulation with any 80 colm. card. It has several terminals that it can emulate. If you are just going for adm3a emulation and a few nice features this one is nice. If anyone comes up with some software that would emulate the HP terminals with inserts and deletes I would like to see that. Oh I forgot to tell you the name of the communications package. It is ASCII EXPRESS "The Professional". I like it. I'd like to here from anyone else out there with AE and their exp. and oppinions. Gregg Stefancik harpo!whuxlb!drd

I have posted a termcap description for the ALS Smarterm II 80-column card to net.sources; It seems to work fine both for vi and rogue (the acid test!) and supports most of the features of the card including cursor movement (gotoxy). This is a very nice card as it gives you a fully functioning keyboard (with |~\{}_`^[]) as well as 80 columns, and can be ordered by mail for under $150 shipping and insurance included.
