[From the virtual flamethrower of ZBEN] I am sorry to have taken so long to post this information, but I wanted to ensure its correctness. Before we start, I should mention that the popular commercial utility programs "Locksmith" and "Nibbles Away" both contain extensive disk speed tests, full media verify, etc. They are available in the $50-$100 range. There is a disk speed program on Volume 1 (Utilities 1) of the Washington Apple Pi (WAP) library. This disk is in DOS 3.2 (13 sector) format but my brother assures me that it MUFFINs over to DOS 3.3 (16 sector) format very nicely. There is a binary (BLOAD) file and an INTEGER basic driver. This may be a problem for those with Apple ][+ machines without language cards, but if its the usual BLOAD and leap to it program it shouldn't be too hard to gerrymander an Applesoft version. To order disks from WAP send a request to the following address: Washington Apple Pi - ATTN: Librarian 8227 Woodmont Avenue, Suite 201 Bethesda, MD 20814 U.S.A. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. There are several hundred disks available in the WAP library. Disk prices are: If mail-ordered: 1st five disks of order members: $7.00 nonmembers: $10.00 remainder of order members: $5.00 nonmembers: $8.00 If picked up at office/meeting: members: $5.00 nonmembers: $8.00 The WAP is a large user's group with international membership. I checked the last directory, of the non-USA members there were: France:2 Belgium:1 Canada:5 England:1 Thailand:1 Saudi Arabia:1 South Africa:1. Dues are $25 for the first year and $18 for subsequent years. Those wishing to join are urged to send to the above address, ATTN: Membership, for membership application forms. zben
