From: delphi::malik (Karl Malik ZK1-1/D42 ) Subj; Accessing non-Apple format files I have a commericial software package that writes non-apple format files to disk. I'd love to be able to edit the stuff in the files but don't know how to go about it. I can't LOAD OR BLOAD the files. I can copy them using FID. CATALOG lists them as having V format (or was it X?). At any rate, it doesn't recognize them. So, what I'd like is to be able to open the files, get a record from them, be able to perform operations on that record, and write it back to the file (or a new copy of it). To begin with, I'd just like to display the record in ASCII, so I can figure out its structure. (Can be done with BASIC or assembly) Any suggestions? Any software available that can do this for me? I'm aware that there are programs that will dump disk sectors, but I'm not clear on how that relates to wanting to read records. While I have programmed in assembly for other systems, I am still fairly naive about Apple concepts, so please spell everything out in long-hand. All help appreciated. ,Karl Malik ...decvax!decwrl!rhea!star!malik
