I am posting the following message for a friend who doesn't have access to the net. He is looking for someone to help write a FORTRAN compiler for a marketable software package. Replies can be sent to me or to the USNAIL address: ISAAC P.O.Box 172 Coram,NY 11727 ISAAC (Interpreter for Scientific Applications and Associated Code) is an exciting new interpreter, or more precisely "pseudo-machine", which has been implemented on the Apple II plus computer. ISAAC operates in a spirit much like the "p-machine" of UCSD Pascal but is custom tailored for scientific computations and affords a great deal of versatility in the handling of numeric data. ISAAC was designed with an eye towards very precise floating point arithmetic and a variety of useful data types, including variable length floating point and integer data, complex numbers, multiply indexed arrays, etc. ISAAC includes a supporting system: ISAAC D.O.S., file manager, powerful text editor, ISAAC assembler, 6502 assembler, linker, and many useful subroutines including lots of special functions, integer factorization, and an on-line debugger. Because the major emphasis of ISAAC is numeric computation it is exceptionally suited for supporting "mathematical" languages such as FORTRAN. A FORTRAN compiler which generates ISAAC code is in the planning stage and ISAAC's author is seeking assistance (due to time problems) on this phase of the project. The hope is to take, as partners, the entire package to market by the end of this summer. Detailed information is available upon request.
