<> I have recently purchased a Mac., and would like to know what future software/hardware will be available for it. Does anyone have any relevant information? I purchased MacWrite/Paint and it's pretty good except that as of now one can only write about ~12 pages worth of text. Hopefully something better will be coming out soon. I've also got microsoft basic and an advanced copy of MacBasic/MacPascal. The MS-basic is quite interesting (it has good mouse control commands) but since I don't have a manual for the apple software I've had a hard time getting to use it properly. I'ld like to hear about what others have to say about the Mac and related topics. Jeff Bishop || University of Chicago ...ihnp4!oddjob!jeff || Astrology & Astrophysics Center

Plans for a 'real' (compared to MacTerm) terminal emulator are in the air here. Should be ready by September, and include table driven emulation of vt100 and IBM 3101. -- ***dan {ihnp4 | decvax | ucbvax}!allegra!fisher!djl The misplaced (you call *that* a mountain ?!?!?) Californian

You should be able to get some of the information you want by reading the publications about the MAC -- ST. MAC, and MAC World. The April issue of MAC WORLD has an article on pg 110 which presents a simple program using the mouse in MS BASIC, MAC BASIC, and MAC PASCAL. All three listings are well-commented, and suggestions for improvements given. You should be able to use the examples to do something with Pascal and BASIC. Another source of info is Compuserve (and, presumably, The Source). There is a very active MAC group running on CompuServe, and a very good terminal emulator written in MS BASIC (MACTEP) is available on the X-access database for the Apple SIG on CS. By some accounts, MACTEP is *much better* than MacTerminal!! By the way, *HOW* do you get your hands on pre-release versions of MAC BASIC and Pascal???? I live in the same area as Apple--even have some internal connections (of possibly dubious quality), and I can't seem to get anyone to let loose of a copy!! This goes for MacTerminal, the new 4-pass copy routine, and the update of MacWrite which is supposed have sub- and superscripts, etc. What gives here? What have you guys got that I don't have? (Besides the pre-release stuff, of course.) hplabs!analog!kim Kim Helliwell
