I wasn't entirely correct when I said that ProDOS doesn't care
what peripherals you have but that the STARTUP routine looks at
the signature bytes when you select the S[lots] option.

Actually, ProDOS does look for disk devices and a clock card.
It is things like serial line interfaces, printers, and mice
that it pays no particular attention to until the IN# or PR#.
