I started off with AE "Pro", but I now use "Softerm II" by Softronics. While AE "Pro" concentrates on macros and file transfer, Softerm concentrates on terminal emulation. They currently support over a dozen different terminal types (including vt102, which gives you char/line insert/delete). It does some uploading and downloading, but the macros are pretty weak. The best thing about it (particularly for Unix work) is that they now have a board that plugs into any slot, and gives you three extra buttons. This means that you never again have to worry about ^L causing your modem program to switch to all upper case, that is done with a combination of one of the new keys and the L. I have had Softerm (in various versions) for over a year now, working at 1200 baud, and have not had any problems. I highly recommend it. (Warning: it is not cheap, I think list is now bordering on $200) -- eric ...!seismo!umcp-cs!aplvax!eric
