[net.micro.apple] Emacs for the //e

BEN@MIT-MC.ARPA (06/29/84)

From: Benjamin Kuipers <BEN@MIT-MC.ARPA>

What is the most emacs-like editor for the //e?

I realize that the mass market doesn't like the
profusion of single-character commands, and the use
of control, meta, and control-meta characters.
However, it would certainly be feasible (I think)
to use open-apple for a meta-key. In that case,
has anyone put together a real emacs for the //e.
If not, how close can I get?

Thanks.

The most similar editor that I have found to Emacs under Apple-Dos
is Pie Writer. It uses control characters and escape-control
characters for commands. It is not in the same league as the CP/M
editors such as Mince or Perfect Writer, but the style is similar to
Emacs and roff.
