The following tidbit appeared in the March/April 1980 Apple Orchard. (Mind you it doesn`t quite apply now) THE APPLE RUMOR MILL COURTESY OF PAUL KNEVELS FROM The Michigam Apple-Gram It has been rumored that APPLE is working on an APPLE III computer to be released shortly. At present the only advance in- formation available is that a new microprocessor will be incor- porated into the unit - the 6503. Our research staff has been able to uncover a list of new op- codes that distinguish the 6503 as a breakthrough in computer technology. The listis presented here for you information (and enjoyment). These lists of strange op codes resurface from time to time; how about a bit of trivia for you older hackers: the 1401 had a "Halt and Branch" instruction - and it was actually USEFUL. Anybody want to try to explain this one? =Ned=

"Our research staff has been able to uncover a list of new op-codes that distinguish the 6503 as a breakthrough in computer technology." You forgot one: HCF - Halt and Catch Fire. Marc

Thus it could be used as an interrupt without branching. From the (Age Old) Soapbox of Tom Condon {...!uw-beaver!teltone!teldata!tac} A Bug A Day Keeps Unemployment Away.
