First of all I would like to thank all of you who responded to my plea for help with my Password modem. Using these responses I was able to solve my problem. Since many of you asked me to let you know how things got resolved I am posting this reply here instead of mailing each of you a separate response. My main problem was reading the documentation for the Versacard first and believing what they claimed. According to Prometheus, a data format of 8 data, 1 start and 2 stop bits is the most common and therefore this is the default on the Versacard. Although the data format on the Versacard is software selectable, the documentation for it does not tell you how to do this. For this reason, I set up my Password for an 11 bit word (this is easy to do and is well documented in the Password documentation). As you know everything was OK at 300 baud but it did not work properly at 1200. To solve the problem I reset my Password to use a 10 bit word since many of you told me that an eleven bit word was not correct for 1200 baud. I also had to find a way to program the Versacard to recognize this format properly. I was able to do this by using the Softerm communications program since this package has a driver specifically for the versacard. By selcting the appropriate options I was able to get the Versacard to use the 10 bit format! I had to make on other change and that was to get Softerm to use the DTR signals instead of Xon/XOFF to control timing. After all that, everything works beatifully!! Thanks again to all those who helped out by responding. -- Dennis Wodarz ihnp4!iwu1c!wodarz 312+979-7971
