I'm posting this for my sister. She is vacationing in the states right now from Brazil, where she lives. Her sons' school has acquired an Apple II and a IIe. Among other things, she's looking for good programs teaching basic skills like reading and arithmetic (or anything, really, as long as it is well written and useful). Her sons' are 8 and 4 years, so we're talking elementary school kind of stuff. The programs will be used by other children at school too, though. She's already acquired Logo, thanks. As a former teacher, my sister has some notions about what a "good" program will do. For instance, she was not impressed with a reading program that displayed everything in upper case, since visually the two cases are very different. She prefers positive to negative reinforcement. These are just some basic guidelines, but all recommendations will be passed along.
