[net.micro.apple] one- wire shift key modification

zir@drutx.UUCP (ZirinskyM) (08/16/84)

this is a really slick modification for converting an apple
II+ to upper/lowercae control. I didn't think of it, I just
use it. Anyway, run a wire from the shift key connection on
you keyboard (as you are standing over the front of the
computer, this is the second connection from the right) to pin
#12 on the game I/O socket (again, standing above the comuter
ad looking toward the back, this is on the right side of the
socket, fourth from the bottom). That's it. Every time you
hit the shift key, it sends a value to the game AN connector
(on/off). Software can read this location, if it is high, it
massages the ascii value from the keyboard to uppercase.

Note: you must have software that looks for this. Can't
recall adress at moment, it is in the Apple reference
manual. Magic Window II supports this modification.
