From: Mike Caplinger <mike@RICE.ARPA> Does anybody know of a fairly cheap, reasonably good Lisp for the Apple IIe? I'm not trying to do software development, just trying to show my younger brother that there are things in the world besides Basic and Pascal... - Mike

From: David Neves <neves%wisc-ai.uwisc@WISC-CRYS.ARPA> You might look into P-Lisp by Gnosis (about $100 with the tutorial) for DOS 3.3. If you are interested at this price sent me mail and I will look up the address. It has a simple Lisp editor and the basic Lisp functions. I've found a few simple bugs, like (member <anything> NIL) generates an error. Also there is no EQ function, but there is a built in EQUAL function. It has an interface to the hi res graphics of the Apple. There are other Lisps for Apple CPM.

<Why is the name for "lisp" if anyone with it can't say it?> I'm working on porting XLISP, the public domain lisp that came across the net recently. I actually have a port of the original version, but it really doesn't have the power of XLISP 1.2. I'll certainly let people know when the new port is available if there is any interest. As for commercial lisps for the apple, don't get your hopes up. There are some out there that run under Apple cpm, but the only one I've seen running on native 6502 didn't even have garbage collection, and when I called the company and asked them what lisp it was based on the salesman didn't know what I was talking about. -kee ...decvax!wivax!apollo!nazgul
