[net.micro.apple] ProDOS developer's version 1.1

If you've received the latest version of ProDOS (1.1) from Apple,
beware that there are some pretty nasty bugs included. You may have
already found some of them. Those worth mentioning are: 1) exiting
an Application program to BASIC.SYSTEM somehow clobbers BASIC's
ability to access disk directories and files. You end up with NO BUFFERS
AVAILABLE everytime the disk is accessed. Careful inspection of the
HIMEM value and the system bitmap have proven to be normal when this
error occurs. (Ex. Exit the EDASM.SYSTEM by typing EXIT BASIC.SYSTEM.
Then attempt to save a short basic program to disk).

Also, on an older version of EDASM, if you typed EXIT and did not specify
a SYS file, you'd get an error message and return to EDASM. With the
latest ProDOS and EDASM, typing EXIT (with no SYS file parameter) will
attempt to exit to BASIC.SYSTEM and will result in the entire operating
system to go bonkers. (You have to try it to beleive it).

The supposedly updated FILER crashed into the monitor while updating all
my diskettes to the new ProDOS. Nice omen. A few times now, while
running a short and simple Applesoft program, I've gotten:

INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND RESTART - ERR: 01

on the bottom of the screen (the Apple just hangs). I suspect that
Apple released the wrong diskette. I would suggest holding off
any updates to your software until Apple comes out with a working
version. Just yesterday we got a call from Cupertino and were
told that the 1.1 version "does have some problems and there will
be an update very soon." We shall see . . .

I am curious about the term 'developer"s version'.

Is there a new class of Apple ][ users called 'developers'?

If so, how does one get on the list? I have written a few
programs I sold (nothing big) and wouldn't want to miss
	any Prodos hints, etc.
