(* a feature is a bug in a three-piece suit *) In hopes of breaking out of the 512K Mac/I-hate-Apple/etc loop how about a new topic? Apple's Lisa (and hopefully Mac) are certainly powerful enough to run a version of UNIX. (Even IBM PC's run UNIX... :-) A Lisa (or Mac) running a version of UNIX which took advantage of all the nice hardware (mouse, bit-map) would seem to be a real nice workstation at a moderate price. What do those of you with such a setup think of it? I've heard from the people at The Santa Cruz Operation (they did a Xenix port to the Lisa) and they really like using UNIX on the Lisa (but then again they did the port). I've also heard that UniPress's System V for the Lisa is slow and not very good in terms of support for Lisa's hardware. I don't own a Lisa (or Mac) yet but I'm thinking about getting one to replace my trusty RS Color Computer (running OS9, is there an OS9 for Mac or Lisa?). Any and all suggestions and comments would be appreciated. You can mail them to me for summerization or simply post them. Let's look at some interesting ways to USE what Apple has produced aside from whatever feeling you may have about the pricing/marketing/fairness of their hardware releases. -=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=- [ Dwight McKay, PUCC user services ] [ {decvax|harpo|ihnp4|inuxc|seismo|ucbvax}!pur-ee!Pucc-H:aam ] -=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-=:*:=-
