I just received the Manx C compiler for Mac. I have several problems with it, two of them in the tutorial. I think I may have a bad system disk. Does anyone out there have this product working? Here are some of the problems I am having: 1. In the /include directory, cat errno.h returns nothing, so does cat <errno.h. Typing in hello.c using cat works, as does cat hello.c. 2. Hello.c compiles and assembles fine, however when I link it with ln hello.o -lc I get the error sys:lib/c.lib Not an object file! Also running libutil -ot c.lib gives a header error. 3. When I start the Z editor nothing happens and I have to re-boot. Any help or correspondence from other Manx C guinea pigs welcome. Is Manx on this net? For the observers out there I will say that this looks like a good package, if I can get it working. There are function calls for much of the Inside Mac stuff (lots of routines, *I* don't know if they have all of them or not), a Unix-like shell development environment, an editor (or so they say, see above), several utilities. A simple terminal program and a desk accessory are included in source and binary and there are sources for many of the utilities and libraries. Again, assuming there is more to it than the documentation, this looks like a fairly complete package. There is a phone # for support, however it is manned 1-6 Eastern time which is not so convenient for West Coast folks without large PacBell budgets. --Kent Johnson ucbvax!dual!vectron!ksj
