<<< Inasmuch as I'm about to buy a Mac, I'd appreciate some information about the 128K-to-512K upgrade (preferably from someone with first-hand experience or reliable information). I've done some pricing of the 128K and 512K Mac's. It seems that at certain places, buying a 128K and the upgrade is only slightly more expensive than buying the 512K. Since the upgrade supposedly comes with MacDraw and MacProject the upgrade deal seems more attractive. My question is, if you buy a 128K Mac now (after the 512K has been announced) will the upgrade really include the extra software? I don't want to buy a 128K now, wait for the upgrade (which isn't universally available) and then find out that I'm not getting the freebies. Any help on this is appreciated. Please reply by mail (unless you feel the whole net would benefit). Thanks, Irwin Walkenfeld AT&T Information Systems ....!hou5e!ihw

You don't get the free software if you didn't own your Mac before the announcement date. Incidentally, articles shouldn't be *posted* to fa groups. Mail it to the address given in the header instead. --Rick

Irwin Walkenfeld (hou5e!ihw) has asked about getting the 'freebies' if you purchase a 128K Mac (a Lean Mac, perhaps?) and then upgrade to a Fat Mac. If memory serves me correctly, the 'freebies' of MacDraw and MacProject were available only to those users who purchased their 128K Macs before September 10, 1984 (when Apple announced their price drop). -- -- don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player!
