[] Sorry if this gets posted twice, but I'm pretty sure the first one never got out. I'm ready to buy a C compiler for my Apple //e. I have a lot of info on the Aztec C65 compiler from Manx, and I've pretty well decided that this is what I want. I understand, however, that Manx also has Aztec C II which runs under CP/M, and that they have a version for Apple CP/M. I'd like some info on this compiler. Is there any advantage in buying the CP/M version? I've heard that the DOS 3.3 version compiles rather slowly, but produces fairly decent code. What about the CP/M version? I've seen several other C compilers running under CP/M; would I be better off with one of those? By the way, I called The Programmer's Shop yesterday and found that Manx is stopping mail order sales of their products through other dealers. So if you want the Aztec C compiler, it looks like you have to order it directly from Manx. Doug Hall ITT Telecom Products ittvax!ittral!hall

[Aren't you hungry...? ] Reliable rumor has it that Manx will soon be releasing their MacIntosh edition of Aztec C to mail order dealers, so there is reason to believe that they are not stopping their dealings with the mail order world. They do, however,p have a support line which I doubt the mail order house knows about. All of the manx compilers generate reasonable tight code, and the 6502 has a far more orthogonal instruction set (not to mention faster) than the Z80. My bet would be on the native Dos version, though I have not tried either. In any case, my experiences with Manx have been that they are supportive and it seems to be universally agreed that their compilers are good ones. Jon Shpairo Haverford College ...!allegra!sjuvax!jss
