[net.micro.apple] AE Pro Assistance needed

mike@vice.UUCP (Mike Mueller) (10/11/84)

-----------------------------------------------

Does anyone know how to get AE Pro to talk to Unix in an intelligent
fashion? I can connect, but the vt52 emulation seems to be out-to-lunch.
Vi doesn't work correctly and I can't even clear the screen properly.

I assume from all the positive reviews on the net that I am doing something
wrong. If so, I refuse to be defensive even if I'm missing something obvious.

Help please! It seems like someone should have solved this problem before.

By the way, does anyone know how to get Apple CP/M files back and forth from
DOS?

No problem with emulating a vt52 -- I am doing it now as always. You do
need to set the parameters correctly, turn on emulation, turn off screen
formatting, and tell Unix that you have a vt52.

Apple CP/M text is not a problem, since it can can be converted from CP/M
with the APDOS program, but going the other way is difficult. I have seen
a cp/m muffin program in call a.p.p.l.e. March 1983, but I haven't tried it.
I suggest that you download MEX11 and use it for CP/M, since it also works
with binary files, which ae will never do.

I too have been using AE pro to use Unix... emulation works well
except for tabs. Also, I found out that emulation doesn't work
without an 80 Column card. Such is life.

CP/Muffin is a horrible program. It made scramble eggs out of
a Turbo program I wrote. Yuck! There has got to be a better
way.
