[net.micro.apple] AscExpr & weird keybd

[Is this bug long gone?]
Hey! Believe it or not, here's a question about terminal
programs that's not: 1) where can I get an Apple ... termcap *OR*
2) why doesn't (program X) emulate a braindamage300 correctly (and
if I'd *bought* my copy would the manual tell me how). (Although this
question is of equally general (un-)interest.)
I am using an Apple II+ with a very weird keyboard attached. It
has all the funny characters & a shift key, but is upper case only.
Lower case entry is achieved via the "shift-key modification".

My problem is that when running Ascii Express on this machine, as soon
as it sees a character not normally available on a plain UC-only
keyboard, it assumes the keyboard is a true uc/lc keyboard. Is
there any fix to this? (The manual does not help with this
rather obscure problem. Please, don't tell me to have my
employers buy a new keyboard.)
